Top Ten By Size

Not surprisingly the biggest (longest) fish we have caught is an alligator gar, although, at just over a meter, that still falls far short of record size.  Most of these larger fishes are caught in experimental gill nets which are fished overnight and catch a variety of sport fish.  All sizes below are "standard length" which measures a fish from the tip of the snout to the base of the caudal fin, so total lengths would add several inches to all of the below measurements. Again none of the earlier surveys (before 1996) have maximum specimen size.
